  14. 1.  A working Winsock based TCP/IP or SLIP/PPP connection configured for
  15.     your PC.  (We recommend using the QWinsock and Location Manager
  16.     included with this software for dial-up connections).
  17.  
  18. 2.  An account with an Internet Service Provider.
  19.  
  20. 3.  Five megabytes of available disk space.

  22. Section 2  - What's new in version 1.01
  23. =======================================
  24.  
  25. Version 1.01 of Quarterdeck Mosaic now includes support for 
  26. additional HTML extensions, including Backgrounds, font color 
  27. and borders.  Quarterdeck will continue to add support for additional
  28. extensions on a regular basis.  Be sure to check the Quarterdeck web
  29. site, http://www.quarterdeck.com/ for information on the latest 
  30. versions.

  32. Quarterdeck Mosaic now supports the Spyglass OPEN URL API command. 
  33. This allows other applications, such as Adobe Acrobat, to send a 
  34. message to Quarterdeck Mosaic to retrieve a specific URL.

  37. Section 3  - Changes to Documentation
  38. =====================================

  40.  The following items are things which have changed since the
  41.  documentation was printed.
  42.  
  43.  - The toolbar can be dragged from the top of the Mosaic window to
  44.    the bottom of the Mosaic window, or it can float within Mosaic.
  45.    However, it can not be attached to the right or left side.
  46.  
  47.  - Demand-dial with QWinsock. If QWinsock is selected as your default
  48.    winsock, when you attempt to access the Internet, QWinsock will be
  49.    launched automatically.  If you are using another winsock in addition
  50.    to QWinsock, you must manually launch QWinsock by clicking on the
  51.    QWinsock icon in the program group. See QWinsock Help for more
  52.    information.

  54.  - Quarterdeck Mosaic includes a persistent cache which keeps documents
  55.    and images in the cache from previous sessions.  Therefore, when you
  56.    re-visit a site, such as the White House Home Page
  57.    (http://www.whitehouse.gov/) the large GIF image may be in the cache,
  58.    eliminating the need to retrieve the image via the Internet. It will
  59.    quickly load the image from disk.

  61. Section 4 - Trouble Shooting
  62. ============================
  63.  
  64. -  Mosaic takes a long time to startup.  At startup, Quarterdeck Mosaic
  65.    builds a database of all files in the persistent cache and history list. 
  66.    If any of these databases are large, startup time will increase.  To 
  67.    reduce startup time, reduce the size of the cache via the Preferences 
  68.    menu.  In addition, you can manually delete the contents of the 
  69.    cache by deleting all the files in the cache directory, typically 
  70.    c:\inet\qmosaic\cache. The size of the Global History can also be  
  71.    reduced via the Preferences menu.
